Editorial Policy
Who writes Rome Tourz, how we source and check facts, how we correct mistakes, and how we keep affiliate income separate from what we say. This page also states plainly how software is used.
Who writes Rome Tourz
Rome Tourz content is written and published by the Rome Tourz editors. We publish under the name of the editorial team, and no individual author names appear on the site. That is a deliberate choice: the pages stand on their sources, their method and their corrections record, not on a personal profile.
We write in a neutral, practical voice. We do not claim that the editors have personally visited, taken or tested the tours we list, and we do not present opinions as first-hand experience.
What we publish
The site covers tours, tickets and guides for Rome and day trips from it. Pages fall into a few types: attraction hubs, practical guides, destination pages, journal articles and tour listings. Each has the same basic aim, which is to help you decide what to book and what to expect, in plain language.
Sourcing rules
We prefer primary and official sources, especially for anything that affects what you pay or whether you get in. Examples include the Colosseum Archaeological Park, the Vatican Museums, Galleria Borghese, Castel Sant'Angelo, Pompeii Archaeological Park, the Roma Pass, Trenitalia, ATAC and the Comune di Roma.
- Where a page states a number that changes, such as a ticket price, opening day or booking window, we check it against the official source and name that source in the text.
- If we cannot verify a figure, we describe the general rule without the number and say so.
- Facts about history, geography and layout are checked against reputable references.
- Prices and details for tours in our catalogue come from the listing data held on this site and from the supplier. We do not state prices for tours that are not in our catalogue.
The "check current details" convention
Ticket rules, opening hours, closures, dress codes and queue conditions in Rome change, sometimes at short notice. Wherever a page contains something time-sensitive, we add a short "Check current details" note and point to the official site. Treat our pages as a briefing, and treat the official site or your booking confirmation as the final word.
Corrections policy
We want to know when we have got something wrong. If you spot an error, tell us through /contact/. We will check it against the original source and correct the page if the report is right. If a correction changes something material, such as a price, a rule or a recommendation, we will say what changed on the page. We do not quietly leave known errors in place.
Update cadence
Pages show a "Last reviewed" date. Time-sensitive pages are reviewed more often than evergreen history and layout pages. We do not promise a fixed schedule for every page, but we do re-check pages when we learn that a rule, price or listing has changed. A review date means an editor has re-read the page against its sources on that date, not that every fact has changed.
Independence from affiliate income
Rome Tourz earns money from affiliate links, mainly to GetYourGuide. If you book through a link, we may receive a commission at no extra cost to you. Our affiliate disclosure at /affiliate-disclosure/ gives the full picture.
Commission does not decide what we write or how we rank tours. Our ranking method is published on /how-we-rank/, and it has no input for commission. Editors may adjust a score only for correctness, never for income. We do not sell positions without a clear "Featured" label, and we do not publish fake reviews or invented ratings. Ratings supplied by a partner are shown as supplied and are flagged.
Use of software and automation
We want to be plain about this. Drafting on this site may be assisted by software, including AI writing tools. Every page is reviewed by an editor before it is published. Software can help with structure, wording and first drafts, but it does not replace checking: facts are verified against the sources named above, and editors decide what goes live.
Because of this, we do not claim human travel experience in our text. We do not write "we visited" or "our guides" unless it is literally true and can be shown. If you see a claim of that kind that you think is unsupported, please report it.
Images and credits
Photographs on the site are credited. Many come from Unsplash and are credited to their photographers under the Unsplash licence. Where a photo is illustrative, it may show a place rather than the exact tour. Photos are not evidence that a tour includes any particular item or stop. The listing text is the source for what is included.
What this policy does not cover
We are not a tour operator for partner tours. We cannot change a supplier's terms, issue refunds on its behalf, or guarantee availability. Our catalogue is limited and does not include every option in Rome. Where we describe a tour, we describe it using the listing data and make no claim about guide quality, reviews or popularity unless a genuine, labelled source is shown.
