Questions
Booking
7 questionsAre the tours suitable for children?
Many are. Look for the Family friendly feature and the minimum age shown on each tour. Treasure hunts, golf-cart tours and cooking classes work well for children, while long day trips and catacombs suit older children.
Can I book a private tour for my family or group?
Yes. Many experiences have a private option, and we also offer a Private Rome Highlights Tour with a local guide. Send an enquiry with your dates, group size, ages and interests, and we will suggest a plan and quote.
Do I need to book in advance for the Colosseum and Vatican?
Yes, we strongly recommend it. Both use timed entry and often sell out days or weeks ahead, especially from spring to autumn and at weekends. Underground and arena access at the Colosseum, and early-access slots at the Vatican, are limited.
How do I book a tour on Rome Tourz?
Tours have one of two booking routes. Partner tours from GetYourGuide send you to the provider’s own checkout, where you pay them directly. Tours run by Rome Tourz or by our operators use an enquiry form on the tour page: tell us your date and group size, and we reply with availability and next steps.
How far in advance should I enquire?
For busy periods such as Easter, May to June, September and the Christmas holidays, we suggest two to four weeks ahead for popular tours and longer for special-access options. For quieter months, a few days can be enough, but availability is never guaranteed.
What does From price mean?
A From price is the lowest typical price per person for that tour, usually for a standard date and group size. The final price can depend on the date, number of guests, language and options you choose, so always check the current price before you book.
Which languages are tours available in?
English is available on almost every tour. Many also run in Italian, Spanish, French or German, and private tours can sometimes be arranged in other languages. The languages for each tour are listed on its page.
Changes & refunds
5 questionsCan I change the date of my booking?
Contact the provider named in your confirmation as soon as you can. For our own tours, reply to your confirmation and we will try to move you to another date, subject to availability. For GetYourGuide bookings, changes are handled through your GetYourGuide account.
How long do refunds take?
Refund timing depends on the payment method and the provider. As a general guide, refunds are processed by the provider within a few business days, and your bank or card issuer may need longer to show it.
What happens if a tour is cancelled by the operator?
If a provider cancels, for example because of bad weather, a closure or a minimum group size not being met, you should be offered another date or a refund according to the provider’s policy. Check your confirmation for details.
What if I arrive late or miss the meeting time?
Tours cannot usually wait, and timed entries for places such as the Colosseum and the Vatican cannot be moved. Late arrivals and no-shows are generally not refundable. Contact the provider using the number in your confirmation if you are delayed.
What is your cancellation policy?
Each tour page shows its own cancellation terms. Our own tours generally offer free cancellation up to a stated time before the start, often 24 to 48 hours. Always read the policy on the tour page and in your confirmation, because terms differ by tour and provider.
On the day
6 questionsAre tours wheelchair accessible?
Some are, and some are not, because many ancient sites have uneven ground and stairs. Tell us your needs in your enquiry, look for the Accessible feature on tour pages, and we will do our best to suggest suitable options.
Can I bring a bag or backpack?
Large bags are not allowed at many sites, including the Vatican Museums, Borghese Gallery and the Colosseum, and may be sent to a cloakroom. Bring only what you need. Security checks are similar to airports.
Is Rome safe for visitors?
Rome is generally safe, but pickpocketing is common in crowded places such as the metro, buses, the Trevi Fountain and Termini station. Keep bags closed in front of you and avoid carrying valuables you do not need.
What happens if it rains?
Most tours run in light rain. Walking tours may be adjusted in heavy rain or storms, and outdoor experiences such as river cruises may be rescheduled or refunded. Check your tour’s cancellation terms.
What should I wear to the Vatican and churches?
Shoulders and knees must be covered for entry to the Vatican Museums, St Peter’s Basilica and most churches in Rome. Carry a light scarf or shawl if you want to wear a sleeveless top, and avoid short shorts or skirts.
Where do I meet my guide?
The meeting point is shown on the tour page in general terms and confirmed in detail in your booking confirmation. Arrive about 15 minutes early. Look for your guide holding a sign or flag.
Payment
4 questionsAre taxes and fees included in prices?
Prices are intended to include taxes. Entry tickets, tips, meals and drinks may or may not be included. The Included and Excluded lists on each tour page show what is covered.
Do I pay a deposit?
This depends on the tour. Some of our own tours are paid in full when confirmed, and others may need a deposit. We will tell you before you pay anything.
What payment methods do you accept?
For enquiry-based bookings we confirm the payment method when we reply, which may be card or bank transfer depending on the tour. For GetYourGuide tours, payment is made on the GetYourGuide site with the methods they offer.
Which currency are prices shown in?
Prices are shown in euros. If you pay with a card in another currency, your bank may apply its own exchange rate and fees.
For operators
5 questionsCan I change or cancel my operator plan?
Yes. You can upgrade, downgrade or cancel from the Plan & billing tab of your operator dashboard. Changes usually apply from the next billing period, and your listings may be limited to your new plan’s allowance.
Do operators pay commission on bookings?
Plans are subscription based. Please check the plan details and terms for any other fees before you subscribe.
How are bookings and enquiries delivered to operators?
Enquiries from visitors arrive in your operator dashboard and by email. Operators reply directly to customers and manage their own bookings, payments and cancellations.
How do I list my tours on Rome Tourz?
Register as an operator, choose a plan and submit your listings from your operator dashboard. New listings are reviewed before they appear on the site.
What are the operator plans?
Free includes one listing without featured placement. Starter is from €19 per month for up to five listings. Pro is from €49 per month for up to 25 listings plus featured placement and analytics. Agency is from €129 per month for unlimited listings. Annual billing gives two months free. Check the plans page for current details.
Account & privacy
4 questionsDo I need an account to browse or enquire?
No. You can browse tours and send an enquiry without an account. An account is mainly for operators managing listings, and for saving preferences.
How do I delete my account or data?
Contact us and we will help you with a data export or deletion request, subject to legal record-keeping requirements. Operators should cancel their plan first.
How do I save tours to a wishlist?
Use the heart icon on a tour card to save it. Your wishlist is stored in your browser, so it stays on the device you used. Clearing browser data will remove it.
How is my personal data used?
We use the details you provide to answer enquiries, manage operator accounts and run the site. Our privacy policy explains what we collect, why, and how long we keep it. We do not sell your personal data.
Affiliate partners
4 questionsDo you earn money from GetYourGuide bookings?
Yes. Rome Tourz is a GetYourGuide affiliate partner. If you book a tour through a link to GetYourGuide, we may earn a commission from them. This comes at no extra cost to you, and the price you pay is the same as booking directly on GetYourGuide.
Does the commission affect which tours you recommend?
We aim to list tours that are useful for visitors, and we explain what each includes. Commission does exist for some links, so we make that clear, and we do not invent reviews or ratings. See our affiliate disclosure page for more.
Who handles my GetYourGuide booking?
Once you click through to GetYourGuide, the booking is a contract between you and GetYourGuide or its supplier. They handle payments, confirmations, changes and refunds. Rome Tourz does not process those bookings.
Why do some tours send me to another website?
Those are partner tours. We show details and a booking link, and the booking is completed on the partner site. Tours marked as enquiry stay on our site.
